Veyond Metaverse, an innovative medical technology company, has made an exciting announcement regarding its expansion into the Apple Vision Pro realm. This cutting-edge telepresence platform, which offers real-time translation and remote communication services, was previously only available on traditional virtual and augmented reality headsets. In fact, Veyond Metaverse proudly claims to have conducted the world’s first “digital surgery” back in 2023 using their platform.

Now, with the integration of Apple’s recently released Vision Pro headset, Veyond Metaverse is venturing into the high-end medical telepresence market. This move comes at a crucial time when the demand for new doctors surpasses the limited supply of medical cadavers worldwide.

Although Veyond Metaverse is a newcomer to the medical technology industry, having been launched in 2021, its primary focus is on surgical telepresence and immersive educational experiences. Their website explains that they enable telepresence surgery by allowing experts in the field to assist or supervise surgeries taking place in remote locations. While the surgeon physically operates on the patient, the attending physician can immerse themselves in the operating space in real time through their headset.

In addition to their telepresence services, Veyond Metaverse also offers educational experiences that combine haptic feedback devices with immersive augmented reality. This unique approach helps students learn and practice surgical techniques by simulating the physical sensations of performing a surgery.

Due to the global shutdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a shortage of medical cadavers. To overcome this obstacle, Veyond Metaverse has incorporated visceral 3D imagery and special haptic feedback gloves that replicate the tactile sensations of conducting surgery.

As for the Apple Vision Pro, it is considered one of the most advanced and expensive mixed-reality headsets available today. Apple refers to it as a “spatial computing device” to emphasize its versatility beyond gaming. Essentially, it is a virtual and augmented reality headset that seamlessly combines real-world and digital imagery. With screens inside the headset displaying virtual content and external cameras capturing the surrounding environment, users can experience a blend of both realities.

A recent study conducted by medical researchers in the Netherlands revealed that VR technologies are gaining traction in the global medical industry. As hardware and software continue to improve, the adoption of these technologies is expected to increase even further. Apple’s foray into the metaverse market is poised to bring this technology into the mainstream and potentially dominate the industry.
