The future has arrived with the introduction of an advanced robot that can serve coffee and ice cream, all powered by blockchain technology. This fully-automated robot, named Peaq, was recently showcased at Token2049 in Dubai, alongside XMAQUINA and ELOOP. The demonstration involved tokenizing autonomous robots that generate value.
During the live demo, Peaq’s robo-cafe served attendees coffee and soft serve, allowing users to earn cryptocurrency rewards for each cup sold through XMAQUINA’s machine pool. XMAQUINA utilizes Peaq IDs for identity management and incorporates peaq’s Modular DePIN Functions into its architecture. Users can view all transactions by searching for the robo-cafe’s Peaq ID via Subscan.
Peaq’s layer-1 blockchain is utilized for the smart contracts that power the business logic and establish machine pools. The first pool launched represents the revenues generated by a tokenized automated robo-cafe located strategically in Europe. Token holders will receive a portion of the profits from every cup sold.
Mauricio Zolliker, the co-founder and CEO of XMAQUINA, explained that the company chose a DePIN-based coffee-serving robot to demonstrate how Web3 technologies can assist in managing automation. With automation potentially threatening millions of jobs, XMAQUINA aims to use robots and decentralized technology to provide individuals with more equity in the face of automation. By tokenizing revenues from autonomous robots, people can become stakeholders instead of victims.
XMAQUINA leverages Peaq’s identity management system to enable users to interact with the technology and the robots securely. Peaq IDs allow machines to interact with the blockchain and distribute rewards in a secure and trustless manner. User data can also be stored on-chain for maintenance purposes, ensuring anonymity.
Looking ahead, Zolliker stated that the DePIN model could be applied to various sectors, including logistics, delivery, agriculture, manufacturing, service, hospitality, construction, and environmental monitoring. He emphasized that people should not fear robots taking their jobs when they can benefit from them instead.
Overall, this innovative use of blockchain technology and autonomous robots showcases the potential for Web3 technologies to revolutionize various industries and empower individuals in the age of automation.
