FPT, a prominent IT company in Vietnam, has joined forces with Nvidia, a global leader in semiconductor chip production, to invest in and construct a state-of-the-art artificial intelligence (AI) factory in Vietnam. The collaboration, announced in a joint statement on April 23, aims to establish a comprehensive AI and cloud computing hub in Vietnam, offering a wide range of AI products, GPU infrastructure, technical expertise, and domain knowledge for local clients.
FPT will provide the necessary funding for the AI factory, which will serve as a sovereign cloud platform, while Nvidia will contribute its cutting-edge technologies, including AI enterprise software, frameworks, and Nvidia H100 Tensor Core GPUs.
The ultimate goal, as stated in the joint statement, is to position Vietnam as a global AI hub and transform the country into an AI-driven nation. Furthermore, the initiative intends to expedite the adoption of AI applications in neighboring countries like Japan and Korea.
Keith Strier, Nvidia’s Vice President for Worldwide AI, emphasized the immense potential of AI to enhance people’s lives and strengthen economies by driving innovation in crucial sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, climate, and manufacturing.
The AI factory will offer cloud GPU services to FPT’s corporate customers, enabling them to accelerate the capabilities and speed of their AI applications. Additionally, the factory will provide comprehensive generative AI services.
Moreover, Nvidia’s educational programs will be integrated into the curriculum and activities of universities and high schools across Vietnam. The initiative aims to reach at least 30,000 students, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge in the AI industry.
In December 2023, Nvidia’s CEO announced the company’s plans to expand its partnerships in Vietnam, with a specific focus on attracting local talent in the AI field. This endeavor aligns with the business agreements and partnerships between the United States and Vietnam, signed in September 2023, which aimed to strengthen cooperation in AI and bolster the semiconductor supply chain. The meeting included the participation of major tech companies operating in the AI sector, such as Nvidia, Microsoft, and Google.
To sum up, FPT and Nvidia’s collaboration represents a significant investment in Vietnam’s AI capabilities, aiming to establish the country as a global AI hub and foster the adoption of AI applications in the region. With the construction of the AI factory and the integration of Nvidia’s educational programs, Vietnam is poised to become a leading player in the AI industry.
