Creating safer and unbiased AI algorithms is a crucial objective in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) development. While centralized AI solutions have dominated funding, decentralized AI solutions are emerging as key players in promoting transparency and fairness. According to Calanthia Mei, co-founder of Masa Network, blockchain-based decentralized AI offers several advantages, including transparent decision-making, enhanced data privacy, and user-owned models that incentivize individuals to contribute their data or computing resources.

The drawbacks of centralized AI models have been evident in the past, with notable instances of significant inaccuracies and social media backlash. For instance, Google faced criticism and concerns after its AI image generator produced historically inaccurate and controversial images. Mei emphasizes that decentralized AI can address such biases by establishing a more transparent decision-making process for algorithms.

Decentralized AI protocols based on blockchain technology provide transparency in verifying the origin of AI output data, which is crucial for improving the algorithms’ performance. Mei highlights Masa Network as one of the leading decentralized AI data and language model protocols, aiming to provide more reliable data for AI applications. According to Dune, over 1.58 million unique wallets have contributed personal data to Masa Network.

On April 25, Masa Network announced its first 13 AI developer partners who will build on its decentralized infrastructure. To support the advancement of decentralized AI capabilities, the network has allocated $100,000 in MASA tokens for its AI developers. The Masa Network and its MASA token were launched on the mainnet on April 11. The initial projects on Masa include CharacterX, a decentralized social network; Pond, a graph AI model for on-chain trading; and RootData, an AI-powered Web3 data layer.

In summary, decentralized AI is essential for creating safer and unbiased AI algorithms. It offers transparency, data privacy, and user-owned models, addressing the limitations of centralized AI. Masa Network is a prominent player in decentralized AI, with numerous unique wallets contributing personal data. The network has partnered with AI developers to advance decentralized AI capabilities and has already launched several projects on its platform.
