Near Protocol’s official X account has caused a stir on Twitter with its cryptic and unusual messages, urging followers to “reclaim your sovereignty” and warning that “darkness is coming.” The account posted a Morse code video on May 8, which was later decoded by Cointelegraph to reveal the ominous message. Two hours later, the account posted four consecutive tweets using a gothic font commonly associated with heavy metal bands. The messages spoke of the sun rising in the east, reclaiming thoughts, darkness, and sovereignty. Near Protocol has not responded to requests for comment, leaving the crypto community speculating about a possible hijack. However, some supporters believe these tweets indicate something significant happening within the ecosystem. This comes after Near Foundation, the developer of the Near Protocol, recently laid off 40% of its staff in an effort to streamline operations and focus on key activities. The foundation plans to continue reducing its footprint as the ecosystem moves toward decentralization.
