Former Facebook employees have developed a layer-1 blockchain platform called Aptos Labs, which is dedicated to providing decentralized asset access to billions of people. Recently, Aptos Labs announced its new global advisors, which include David Lawee, the former vice president of corporate development at Google. Lawee, who founded Alphabet’s independent growth equity fund Capital G, will utilize his extensive experience in Web2 consumer technology to promote the mainstream adoption of blockchain. Joining Lawee on Aptos’ advisory board are Pamela Drucker Mann, chief revenue officer at Condè Nast Global, and Dan Boneh, a computer science professor at Stanford University. Mann will focus on enhancing the ecosystem culture of Aptos Labs, while Boneh will contribute research on cryptography and cybersecurity to advance infrastructure and security. Lawee expressed his excitement about collaborating with the Aptos Labs team to bring Web3 to the masses, emphasizing the platform’s mission to support financial empowerment, digital experiences, and social connectivity on a global scale. Lawee’s involvement in the cryptocurrency industry has been growing in recent years, with Capital G partnering with Digital Currency Group (DCG) in 2021. Aptos Labs was founded in 2021 by Mohammad Shaikh and Avery Ching and operates its native token, Aptos (APT). The platform has garnered $350 million in investments from various sources, including venture capital arms of exchanges like Coinbase and Binance.
