Cryptocurrency payment company MoonPay has made an undisclosed donation to Stand With Crypto, a nonprofit crypto advocacy project. MoonPay CEO Ivan Soto-Wright announced the donation on May 13, stating that it was made on behalf of everyone at MoonPay. The donation went to Stand with Crypto’s c4 effort, which aims to build and mobilize crypto advocates. Soto-Wright emphasized the importance of the upcoming US presidential election in shaping the future of the cryptocurrency industry, urging people to support crypto advancement. The details of the donation were shared with Cointelegraph. Stand With Crypto recently launched a political action committee (PAC) for its 450,000 members to contribute to candidates running in the 2024 US elections. The goal of the PAC is to endorse and support candidates who protect the rights of Stand With Crypto advocates. Coinbase, which helped launch Stand With Crypto in August 2023, also launched the PAC. Coinbase has been actively seeking dialogue with financial regulatory authorities in the US. The company has faced legal battles and lawsuits in the past related to federal securities laws and investor deception. Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong has previously expressed the company’s apolitical stance, focusing on its mission rather than advocating for specific causes or candidates.
