OKX Ventures, a crypto and Web3 investment fund, has recently made an investment in the action role-playing game Blade of God X developed by Void Labs. This early access title introduces a unique “play to train” feature, which allows gamers to participate in the training of an artificial intelligence (AI) model through gameplay.
According to a press release from OKX Ventures, this play-to-train concept combines advanced AI agents with blockchain technology and enables players to train their AI agents by simply playing the game.
The specifics of which models are being trained and how gameplay contributes to this training process are currently unclear. Cointelegraph reached out to OKX Ventures and Void Labs for more information but has not received a response at the time of writing.
Blade of God X is an action role-playing game that shares similarities with “Souls-like” games, known for their intricate action sequences. It is currently available as an early-access title on the Epic Game Store with integrated blockchain functionality. The game’s listing states that engagement with nonfungible tokens, cryptocurrency, and other Web3 features is optional. Players can download and play Blade of God X for free, but accessing its blockchain-based features may require payment or wallet access.
The game is compatible with Immutable X and Ethereum Virtual Machine chains, as stated in the FAQ documentation on the Epic Games Store. Players who choose to connect to the game’s Web3 features can trade and create their own unique gaming experiences through platforms such as MetaMask, GameStop, Venly, Coinbase Wallet, Magic Link, or Immutable passport.
According to the press release, the Blade of God series has been downloaded over six million times, and the latest installment, Blades of X, has already raised $6 million in funding. Void Labs founder Tnise expressed gratitude for the invaluable support from OKX Ventures after their commitment to invest.
Other investors in the game include Delphi Ventures, BreederDAO, Eden Holdings, and several others.
