Twetch, a social media platform operating on the Bitcoin SV (BSV) blockchain, unexpectedly closed its doors on June 6, leaving many crypto investors unable to access their nonfungible tokens (NFTs) and virtual collections. Despite the shutdown, users could still download the Twetch mobile app from major app stores.
The reasons behind Twetch’s closure were not disclosed on their website. However, it is worth noting that Craig Wright, the founder of Bitcoin SV, was not successful in proving himself as the creator of Bitcoin (BTC) in a recent court ruling. Twetch, led by CEO Josh Petty, was not affiliated with Wright.
Although Twetch bid farewell on its website, a tweet hinted at the possibility of a future comeback. The company plans to release its code as open-source to preserve the essence of Twetch.
In the realm of Web3 platforms, Twetch’s struggles contrast with the challenges facing X. Hackers on X have been targeting prominent social media accounts to promote fraudulent investments, with Near Protocol’s recent account activity raising concerns of a potential attack.
As the industry faces these challenges, the idea of immortality through AI, as predicted by a longevity expert, offers a glimpse into the future of technology and human evolution.
