Leading hardware cryptocurrency wallet company Trezor is addressing the usability challenges of crypto with a personalized onboarding service and a new hardware wallet. Trezor has officially introduced Trezor Expert, a tailored one-on-one onboarding experience. The ease of use of self-custodial wallets, along with privacy and security, is crucial for driving growth in the crypto space.
Unlike custodial wallets like Coinbase Wallet, non-custodial wallets require users to understand the concept of Bitcoin self-custody. In return, users have the responsibility and privilege of being the sole holder of their private key and access to Bitcoin (BTC). Trezor Expert aims to educate users on self-custody and alleviate concerns about potential errors. The session costs $99 and can be purchased on the Trezor website.
After a successful beta launch, Trezor Expert was officially launched on June 14, announced by Trezor CEO Matej Zak at the BTC Prague 2024 event in Czechia. The service helps customers set up their hardware wallets correctly and delve into the security aspects of self-custody, covering topics like private key management and safe online practices.
Additionally, Trezor has released a new hardware wallet, the Trezor Safe 5, featuring enhanced security features and user-friendly components like a color touchscreen and a Trezor Touch haptic engine. The new recovery seed backup process includes 20 words, offering increased security compared to the standard 12 or 24-word seed phrase. Trezor Safe 5 is part of the Trezor Safe product line, catering to different user needs and targeting specific audiences.
Trezor Safe 5 is available for pre-order at a retail price of $169, offering the highest level of security and usability for crypto enthusiasts. Trezor has also introduced a Bitcoin-only option for those who prefer to focus solely on Bitcoin features. According to Zak, the security of a Bitcoin-only Trezor wallet is on par with altcoin-supported versions, with the only difference being the absence of non-Bitcoin features.
