T-Mobile, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, has announced its plans to delve into Bitcoin mining, expanding its existing involvement in the crypto space. Since 2023, the telecommunications company has been operating a Bitcoin node and currently runs Bitcoin Lightning Network nodes.
During the BTC Prague event, Dirk Röder, the head of Web3 infrastructure and solutions at Deutsche Telekom, shared insights into the company’s crypto activities. When asked about the concept of “digital monetary photosynthesis” by former Cointelegraph contributor Joseph Hall, Röder provided further details.
T-Mobile has already established itself as Web3 native by becoming a Polygon validator in June 2023. This move positions the firm to utilize its robust infrastructure to tap into new revenue streams.
Deutsche Telekom has been actively involved in the crypto space as one of the 100 validators on Polygon for over a year. By providing staking and validation services on the platform, the company has contributed to supporting Polygon’s proof-of-stake consensus mechanism.
In February, Deutsche Telekom partnered with Fetch.ai, a decentralized AI platform, to introduce enterprise AI solutions. As a validator on the Fetch.ai blockchain, the telecommunications company supports AI-driven autonomous agents that offer services in various sectors such as healthcare, automotive, and supply chain management.
These autonomous agents handle resource management, transactions, and traffic analysis, showcasing the potential of AI in different industries. Fetch.ai recently announced GPU rewards for token holders following a significant $100 million infrastructure investment.
