Former President of the United States, Donald Trump, has made a bold promise to put an end to President Joe Biden’s “war on crypto” if he is re-elected.
During a special event in West Palm Beach, Florida, on June 14, Trump declared, “I will end Joe Biden’s war on crypto, and we will ensure that the future of crypto and Bitcoin will be American-made; we’re going to keep it right here, and much of it will be developed right here in Florida.” This statement was made on his 78th birthday.
This is not the first time Trump has criticized Biden for his tough stance on crypto. On May 26, he targeted Biden, stating that the U.S. should strive for the top spot in the crypto industry.
In a scathing post on Truth Social, a social media platform owned by Trump Media and Technology Group, Trump referred to Biden as “Crooked Joe” and accused him of wanting crypto to fade away slowly. He emphasized that this would not happen if he were in power.
Trump is set to challenge Biden in the 2024 presidential race, with the election scheduled for Nov. 5.
In addition to his promise to boost Florida’s crypto presence, Trump’s commitment to establishing Florida as a key player in the crypto world follows data from CoinLedger naming Florida as the “best state” for crypto taxes in the U.S. This recognition was based on Florida’s lack of state income tax and its crypto-friendly regulatory policies, such as a pilot program that allows businesses to pay state fees in crypto. Conversely, New York was identified as the worst state for crypto taxes.
On June 12, Trump expressed his support for the Bitcoin mining industry, stating his desire for all remaining Bitcoin to be mined within the United States.
In a related note, the concept of “Bitcoin Layer 2s” was questioned, emphasizing the importance of this distinction.
