Worldcoin, the project integrating iris-scanning biometric digital identity, has joined forces with Alchemy, a leading Web3 development platform, to enhance the infrastructure of the World Chain ecosystem.
Announced on June 26, Worldcoin’s partnership with Alchemy provides World Chain developers immediate access to Alchemy’s comprehensive suite of Web3 developer tools. This includes core and data APIs, indexing solutions, and a range of other essential tools necessary for app development. Notably, the collaboration introduces an account abstraction infrastructure aimed at enhancing the security of self-custodial wallets within the World Chain ecosystem.
Additionally, Alchemy will integrate World ID into its toolset, significantly expanding global developer access to digital ID technology. Emphasizing a human-centric approach, Noam Hurwitz, Alchemy’s engineering lead, expressed confidence that the partnership will drive substantial progress towards onboarding a billion users to blockchain technology, fostering the creation of user-focused applications.
World Chain, introduced in April 2024, positions itself as a blockchain tailored for human usability. As highlighted by Tools for Humanity, a key contributor to the ecosystem, World Chain operates alongside Optimism, Coinbase, and the broader Ethereum network as part of the Superchain initiative. Currently transitioning from OP mainnet, World Chain will host Worldcoin’s World ID, obtained through iris scans at global orbs, along with the World App.
Focusing on large-scale infrastructure development, World Chain utilizes verified World IDs to prioritize holders for blockspace and offers free gas allowances for casual transactions, aiming to deter bot activity and provide developers with genuine user engagement. Steven Smith, Head of Protocol at Tools for Humanity, emphasized World Chain’s ambition to become the premier blockchain for human-centric applications and the primary gateway for users entering the blockchain ecosystem.
Smith underscored Alchemy’s selection due to its established track record in ensuring uptime and reliability for major enterprises. For further insights into Worldcoin and its vision for decentralized digital identity on a global scale, Steven Smith will discuss these topics with Savannah Fortis in an upcoming episode of “Decentralize with Cointelegraph.”
