The popular clicker game on Telegram, Hamster Kombat, has unveiled its ambitious plans for the remainder of 2024 and into 2025, including the introduction of a Web3 gaming platform aimed at diversifying its gaming offerings.
On September 25, the creators of Hamster Kombat shared an updated roadmap outlining their objectives for the final quarter of 2024 and the following year. Their strategies for 2024 encompass the integration of external payment systems, the launch of new titles within the Hamster ecosystem, and the incorporation of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) as in-game items.
The Hamster Kombat team expressed that they are in a “unique position,” equipped with a dedicated player base and industry developers to facilitate the development of a Web3 gaming platform. They emphasized possessing the necessary technology and expertise to streamline the process for game developers.
Since its initial launch, Hamster Kombat has rapidly garnered a massive following, with the clicker game going viral and amassing an impressive 239 million users within just 81 days. To date, the game has welcomed over 300 million players.

### Keeping Players Engaged After Airdrops
On September 23, the Hamster Kombat team disclosed the distribution details for its highly anticipated airdrop event. Out of its 300 million users, only 131 million are eligible to receive airdrop rewards, accounting for merely 43% of the total player base. Additionally, the game has banned 2.3 million users for engaging in cheating.
One of the ongoing challenges for Web3 games is maintaining player engagement following airdrops. However, the Hamster Kombat team assured that they have devised strategies for user retention. They informed Cointelegraph that the tokens distributed post-airdrop may hold increased value. The team stated:
They also emphasized the importance of focusing on the value proposition of the games within their ecosystem, rather than solely on earnings. “This strategy differs from the conventional approach where Web3 developers incentivize airdrop hunters,” they remarked.
Their plan to attract more players involves blending the best elements of Web2 and Web3 to create captivating content.
### Future Developments and Token Management
According to the Hamster Kombat team, the company is set to launch a dedicated advertising network for games within its ecosystem, with a projected release in December 2024. The revenue generated from this ad network will be utilized to repurchase tokens and distribute them as rewards. They explained:
Token buybacks function similarly to stock buybacks, aimed at addressing price volatility. This concept involves a project using its resources to buy back tokens from holders at the prevailing market price.
In contrast, token burns occur when crypto projects send tokens to designated burning addresses, permanently eliminating them from circulation. This process creates scarcity, potentially leading to an increase in token value.
Additionally, Hamster Kombat revealed plans for 2025, which include the creation of a non-fungible token marketplace, hosting a competitive clan championship, and executing the second phase of its airdrop.
