The detention of Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan in Nigeria has come to an end as the government has decided to drop all charges against him. The announcement was made by a lawyer representing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nigeria’s government prosecutor, at the Federal High Court in Abuja on October 23. Premium Times, a local news agency, reported the withdrawal of the charges.
According to the EFCC lawyer, Gambaryan, who is a citizen of the United States, did not hold a senior position at Binance, which was the main target of the prosecution. The decision to drop the charges against him was made just two days before a scheduled courtroom session on October 25. It is believed that the hearing on Wednesday was intentionally conducted with minimal public attention.
As this is an ongoing development, more information will be provided as it becomes available.
