South African comedian and entertainer Trevor Noah admitted that his biggest regret in life was not investing in Bitcoin when it had no value. Noah, known for his role as the former host of The Daily Show, shared this revelation during his appearance at the Web Summit Qatar 2024 in Doha on February 26. While discussing his love for technology and the rise of artificial intelligence (AI), Noah was asked about his biggest mistake, to which he responded by mentioning his failure to invest in Bitcoin. He also acknowledged that another mistake was not taking the time to understand the cryptocurrency. Noah has previously discussed cryptocurrencies and nonfungible token (NFT) trading on The Daily Show, where he often joked about crypto terms and price volatility. In 2018, false rumors emerged claiming that Noah was leaving the show to pursue Bitcoin trading through an investment scheme called “Bitcoin Revolution South Africa,” but those articles have since been deleted. He eventually left the show in 2022, stating that his time was up. The Web Summit Qatar, a tech conference focusing on fintech and AI, began on February 26 and will continue until February 29. During the opening event, Qatar’s Prime Minister announced a $1-billion investment by the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) in venture capital funds to support entrepreneurs and emerging technologies. Although Noah’s net worth is approximately $100 million, it seems that he regrets missing out on the potential gains from investing in Bitcoin, especially as its price recently reached a 25-month high of $56,700. Bitcoin’s market capitalization has also surpassed $1.1 trillion. The cryptocurrency has experienced significant growth, rising by 34% in the past 30 days and currently standing just 18.5% below its all-time high of $69,000 in November 2021.
