Overdare, a venture focused on the metaverse, has partnered with Circle, the issuer of USD Coin (USDC), to integrate in-game Web3 wallets and USDC payouts for its gaming content creators. The partnership, announced on February 26, will allow Overdare to utilize Circle’s Programmable Wallets service, enabling content creators to receive stablecoins in exchange for their gaming content. Overdare is a nonfungible token (NFT)-driven metaverse game developed as a joint venture between Naver Z and Krafton, known for releasing the popular game PUBG: Battlegrounds. The game, similar to Roblox, is built with the Unreal Engine 5 and was announced on September 15, 2023.
In addition to the wallet integration, Circle emphasized that Overdare will also incorporate the USDC stablecoin as an alternative method for creators to settle transactions and generate revenue. The partnership aims to assist gaming creators in transitioning from Web2 platforms to the Web3 space. Overdare CEO Henry Park expressed excitement about the collaboration, praising Circle’s regulatory compliance and emphasizing that it will provide creators with reliable access to their earnings. Circle co-founder and CEO Jeremy Allaire believes that the partnership will contribute to shaping the future of digital entertainment and foster a Web3 environment for all. Allaire also expressed enthusiasm about providing Web3 wallets and USDC payout support to Overdare to support the creator economy.
This development for Overdare comes at a time of increased interest in blockchain gaming tokens. On February 22, the crypto token of the Web3 game Pixel reached a valuation of $2.7 billion after being listed on the crypto exchange Binance. The PIXEL token experienced significant growth, reaching a high of $0.53, more than 10 times its initial listing price of $0.04.
