Google is set to launch a 25 million euro ($26.9 million) support fund to provide skill training in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) for Europeans. The AI Opportunity Initiative for Europe aims to help individuals take advantage of the opportunities offered by AI, as Europe is positioned to lead in this area. Google is collaborating with European Union governments, civil society, academics, and businesses to offer advanced AI training to local startups, with a special focus on vulnerable communities. A portion of the fund, around 10 million euros, will be allocated to equip workers with the necessary skills to avoid being left behind. This initiative follows a previous successful program, “Grow with Google,” which trained over 12 million people to address the digital skills gap in the EU. Additionally, Google has partnered with the Centre for Public Impact (CPI) to reach more people for AI training, while expanding the languages available for its AI foundational course and enhancing its Google Career Certificates program.
