Binance, the popular cryptocurrency exchange, and the blockchain ecosystem have unveiled a unique initiative to promote women’s involvement in the industry. They have combined luxury goods with finance by introducing a new high-end fragrance called Crypto. The company’s female marketing leaders announced their plans to enhance inclusivity and attract women through a marketing campaign centered around the luxurious scent, just in time for International Women’s Day on March 8.
The Crypto fragrance is part of Binance’s broader inclusivity campaign, “Crypto is Yours.” The company aims to challenge the conventional norms of the crypto space while drawing inspiration from beauty advertising conventions. Rachel Conlan, Binance’s Chief Marketing Officer, emphasized the invaluable contributions women make in the crypto space. She stated that the fragrance not only serves as a scent but also delivers a powerful message to women, highlighting their significant role in the crypto revolution.
The main focus of this initiative is to encourage more women to explore the crypto industry. Binance plans to reward the first 5,000 women who complete one of their beginner crypto courses with $25 in Tether (USDT). Conlan stressed that crypto is a universal concept, and everyone should have the opportunity to participate in the space.
In a previous interview with Cointelegraph leading up to International Women’s Day in 2023, He Yi, Binance’s co-founder, advised individuals interested in entering the crypto space to disregard gender and instead concentrate on mindset to succeed in Web3.
Binance is not the only crypto platform aiming to cater to the women demographic. Bitget, a cryptocurrency exchange, pledged to allocate $10 million to support women-led Web3 startups through the Blockchain4Her initiative. This initiative aims to promote gender diversity and inclusivity in the industry. According to a report from Bitget Research, between the first quarter of 2022 and the third quarter of 2023, women-led or created startups only received $1.77 billion out of the $27.85 billion in Web3 venture capital funding, accounting for roughly 6.43%. These statistics highlight the need for efforts from major industry players to encourage more women to participate in the space.
