BNB Chain, the ecosystem powered by the BNB token, has introduced a solution called rollup-as-a-service (RaaS) to facilitate the development of layer-2 blockchains on its network. This service aims to provide projects with the necessary technological infrastructure to deploy layer-2 networks on the BNB Chain, thus expanding its ecosystem.
The RaaS solution offered by BNB Chain supports decentralized applications (DApps), enabling various project verticals such as blockchain gaming and decentralized finance (DeFi) to be implemented on layer-2 networks. Additionally, BNB Chain is offering rollup management support and a “no-code” deployment option for projects that may not have coding expertise.
The layer-2 networks established through BNB Chain’s RaaS service will be built on the BNB Smart Chain (BSC), which serves as the foundational layer-1 blockchain and governance chain, according to the BNB Chain team.
This new service aligns with BNB Chain’s objective of promoting the widespread adoption of Web3 technology. The BNB Chain Core Development Team stated that they have been focusing on layer-2 networks since 2023. In June 20, they unveiled their layer-2 scaling solution, opBNB, based on the Optimism OP Stack, on a testnet. This solution is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), allowing it to work with Ethereum-based smart contracts and token standards.
After a testing phase, the opBNB platform was deployed onto a mainnet on Sept. 13, making it publicly available. BNB Chain reported that during the testnet run, the platform processed over 35 million transactions and hosted 150 DApps. They also claimed that the opBNB platform achieved a stress test result of 4,000 transactions per second (TPS).
The introduction of the rollup service by BNB Chain is in line with the goals set by the company earlier this year. In its “BNB Chain 2024 Outlook” released on Jan. 31, BNB Chain introduced the “One BNB” interconnectivity concept, which connects BSC with its decentralized storage service, BNB Greenfield.
In summary, BNB Chain’s rollup-as-a-service (RaaS) solution aims to support the development of layer-2 blockchains on its network, providing projects with the necessary tech infrastructure. This service enables the deployment of decentralized applications (DApps) in various project verticals and offers rollup management support and a “no-code” deployment option. The layer-2 networks built through this service will be based on the BNB Smart Chain (BSC). BNB Chain’s RaaS solution aligns with its goal of promoting the mass adoption of Web3 technology, and it follows the successful deployment of the opBNB layer-2 scaling solution.
