In the ever-growing world of blockchain gaming, companies are joining forces to attract more gamers and introduce them to the exciting realm of Web3. Immutable, a leading player in the sector, recently announced that it has successfully integrated 75 new Web3 games into its platform within the past three months. This brings the total number of blockchain-based games on Immutable to an impressive 270.
Capitalizing on the tremendous growth of its gaming ecosystem, crypto exchange OKX has partnered with Immutable to expand further into Web3 gaming. Jason Lau, the Chief Innovation Officer of OKX, emphasized the potential of Web3 to enhance gamers’ experiences by enabling true ownership and driving innovation in the gaming industry. He highlighted how Web3 empowers gamers to own, trade, and earn from their in-game assets, resulting in a more immersive and rewarding gaming experience. Additionally, Lau noted that Web3 encourages the development of unique game mechanics, business models, and community involvement.
To maintain the momentum of Web3 gaming adoption, OKX and Immutable are collaborating on the creation of a GameFi launchpad. This launchpad will facilitate the release of new Web3 games on Immutable’s zero-knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine (zkEVM) chain. Lau believes that this initiative will enhance discoverability and accessibility to upcoming Web3 games, experiences, and assets, benefiting the broader crypto community.
In this partnership, games launching on the Immutable chain will have access to a range of OKX solutions, including its exchange, wallet, and nonfungible token marketplace. Moreover, the OKX Wallet service will be seamlessly integrated with Immutable Passport, a login method developed by the Web3 game publisher for games within its ecosystem.
Lau emphasized the vital role that blockchain gaming firms play in onboarding gamers into the Web3 world. He urged these firms to prioritize creating unique game mechanics and cultivating strong communities around their games. Lau believes that in addition to promoting games, gaming companies should educate players about the advantages of Web3.
Immutable has been diligently improving its gaming ecosystem by introducing features that make Web3 gaming more accessible and user-friendly. One such feature is the proprietary zero-knowledge proof scaling platform called zkEVM, which was launched on December 13, 2023. This platform allows game developers to eliminate gas fees for users, resulting in a frictionless onboarding process for Web3 gamers. Additionally, Immutable rolled out its passport wallet infrastructure on December 19, enabling users to create and recover their wallets using their Google or Apple accounts. This convenient account management service aims to make the Web3 gaming experience more seamless for players.
