A crypto messaging app called Status, which was initially launched during the ICO boom, has experienced a sudden surge in development activity, making it one of the most actively developed projects in the crypto ecosystem. According to crypto intelligence platform Santiment, Status has seen over 434 GitHub commits in the past month, making it the third-most actively developed project. The app, which positions itself as a competitor to Discord and Telegram, offers community-oriented features and allows users to send crypto to each other. Unlike other encrypted messaging apps, Status does not require phone numbers for sign-up; users can sign up using crypto wallet addresses. Despite facing criticism for being slow to bring a working product to market, the project has recently announced the upcoming launch of alpha and beta versions of its app. The project’s native token, SNT, is currently trading at $0.04, up 2.4% in the last 24 hours and 50% over the past year, but still down 93.4% from its all-time high.
