Misyon Bank, a pioneering neobank in Turkey, is venturing into digital asset custody and tokenization through a partnership with Swiss cryptocurrency custody provider, Taurus. The collaboration, facilitated by Misyon’s subsidiary MisyonTech, will leverage Taurus’ technology to offer digital asset custody and tokenization services. Misyon will utilize various solutions developed by Taurus, including the custody platform Taurus Protect, the tokenization tool Taurus Capital, and the blockchain node infrastructure Taurus Explorer. Taurus is renowned for providing custody services to major European banks such as Banco Santander and Credit Suisse, the latter of which also invested heavily in Taurus during a recent funding round. Misyon Bank CEO Önder Halisdemir sees this partnership as a significant step towards positioning Turkey as the “Switzerland of its region,” enabling Turkish assets to be accessible to global investors through tokenization. The collaboration’s focus on cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin remains undisclosed. Turkey has emerged as a prominent player in the crypto market, ranking fourth in terms of transaction volumes in 2023. The partnership between Misyon Bank and Taurus is expected to stimulate institutional activity in the region and establish Turkey as a key player in digital asset custody and tokenization.
