Mi Primer Bitcoin, a Bitcoin education initiative based in El Salvador, has recently unveiled an updated version of its Bitcoin Diploma program. This new version takes an open-source approach and was developed in collaboration with Bitcoin educators and enthusiasts from around the world. The program offers a comprehensive curriculum that covers various aspects of Bitcoin, including its history, technical workings, and everyday applications.
One of the key changes in this update is that the program is now open-source, meaning that all materials, including the Student Workbook, are freely available on GitHub. The aim of this change is to encourage collaboration and translation efforts on a global scale.
John Dennehy, the founder and executive director of Mi Primer Bitcoin, emphasized the transformative potential of Bitcoin education. He believes that financial literacy in the Bitcoin era promotes creativity, innovation, and long-term planning. Dennehy sees this curriculum update as a significant step in the project’s mission to empower the world through Bitcoin education.
The previous version of the Bitcoin Diploma has been translated into nine languages and taught to over 25,000 students in El Salvador since the project’s inception. This new update has already sparked 26 translations underway. Graduation ceremonies have been held for students who have completed the program.
In September 2023, Mi Primer Bitcoin partnered with the Ministry of Education of El Salvador to integrate Bitcoin into the public school curriculum by 2024. The initiative has also expanded its reach beyond El Salvador, collaborating with educational institutions and governments internationally. Bitcoin Cuba, for example, has announced its upcoming collaboration with the program to bring Bitcoin education to local communities.
Overall, the updated Bitcoin Diploma program by Mi Primer Bitcoin reflects the organization’s commitment to promoting Bitcoin education and empowering individuals worldwide.
