Bored & Hungry LA Shuts Down, Hungry DAO Acquires Brand
After two years in operation, the Los Angeles burger restaurant, Bored & Hungry, known for its Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) nonfungible token (NFT) branding, is closing down. The restaurant has been acquired by the decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) called Hungry DAO. Co-founder Andy Nguyen announced the closure on April 8, stating that the brand will soon announce its new location in the United States. The Hungry DAO has also acquired the Bored & Hungry brand, which currently has three locations in the Philippines, one in Seoul, South Korea, and plans for pop-ups in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Dubai later this year. The restaurant’s founding team will become shareholders in the DAO.
Bored & Hungry, which opened in April 2022, is one of several businesses started by Bored Ape NFT holders who have leveraged their ownership of the digital IP asset to create unique brands. Nguyen expressed gratitude to the BAYC and Web3 community for their support in pioneering the use of NFT ownership in the creation of a restaurant brand.
BitBoy One: The Game Boy-inspired Bitcoin Console
Ordz Games, a Bitcoin Ordinals-based gaming platform, has unveiled its latest creation at the Web3 Gaming Expo in Hong Kong. The BitBoy One is a gaming console and crypto wallet that resembles a Game Boy. Priced at around $500, the console is set to be available for pre-order in mid-April. Unlike other retro game consoles, the BitBoy One can play retro-style play-to-earn games based on Bitcoin using the NFT-emulating Ordinals protocol. It also acts as a wallet for storing Bitcoin earned from these games. Additionally, the console can power a Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network (DePIN), allowing users to receive airdrops by leaving it running.

The marketing campaign will culminate in the film’s premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
While details about the film are still limited, Doodles confirmed that Lil Wayne will voice the character “Captain Stoke,” a skeleton, and Coi Leray will voice the character “Deysi,” a flower-like anthropomorphic figure. The film’s original soundtrack, composed by singer-songwriter and Doodles chief brand officer Pharrell Williams, will feature three music videos.
NFT Sales Decline for Fifth Consecutive Week
The sales volume of nonfungible tokens (NFTs) across all blockchains has experienced a decline for the fifth consecutive week. Data from CryptoSlam! shows that daily total NFT sales reached a year-to-date peak of over $80.4 million on March 4 but has since dropped by over 50% to nearly $39.4 million as of April 8.
Ethereum NFT sales have seen a significant downturn, with a nearly 48% drop in 30-day figures to $363.3 million. This decline is larger than the drops observed in Bitcoin (13.5%), Solana (over 15%), and Polygon (nearly 34%). However, over the past seven days, Bitcoin-based NFTs saw a volume increase of over 24% to $97.7 million, making it the only blockchain in the top five to experience a weekly gain.
In the past week and 30 days, the most traded NFTs were “Uncategorized Ordinals,” which refers to any Bitcoin Ordinal that does not belong to a recognized collection. These Ordinals saw trading volumes of $156 million in the past 30 days, a 54% increase from the previous period, with $37.4 million traded in the past week.
