Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss have become co-owners of Real Bedford Football Club (RBFC), a Bitcoin podcaster Peter McCormack’s venture, after investing $4.5 million worth of Bitcoin (BTC) to support the club’s plans. The Winklevoss twins made the investment through their firm, Winklevoss Capital. The funds will be used to create a Bitcoin treasury for the club, which aims to protect itself from long-term fiat debasement. McCormack stated that the investment will help with the club’s infrastructure and growth. The funds will also be utilized for the development of a new training center and ongoing support for girls’ and youth football. McCormack, who acquired RBFC in 2021, dreams of competing in the English Premier League. The Winklevoss twins share his vision and believe in the power of Bitcoin to propel RBFC to the top league in the UK. They see their investment as not just supporting a football club but also investing in the dream of bringing Premier League football to Bedford. This investment follows the Winklevoss twins’ recent donation of $4.9 million to the Fairshake super political action committee, which supports cryptocurrency-friendly candidates in the upcoming US elections.
