Unstoppable Domains, the Web3 username protocol, has unveiled a new feature that allows username owners to create badge-gated group chats. These group chats are exclusive to wallet accounts with specific characteristics, ensuring only eligible participants can join the conversation. The feature, developed using the Web3 communication system Push Protocol, aims to enhance communication within the crypto community while minimizing the spread of misinformation. Unstoppable Domains previously introduced a chat app that utilized Web3 usernames as chat handles, but it only supported individual communication. Now, with the addition of group chats, the Unstoppable Domains mobile and web apps offer a more comprehensive communication experience. Group admins have the ability to restrict membership to users who possess certain badges, which are granted based on verifiable on-chain characteristics. The badge-gating feature automates membership while still granting moderators the ability to manually remove users who violate the rules. At the launch of the feature, over 400 groups were automatically created based on the existing Unstoppable Domains badges. Users with a specific badge must opt in to receive messages from that badge’s group by clicking a button in the app.
Username holders can now access a badge-protected group chat feature as Unstoppable Domains introduces this new addition.
